The first impression, listening to “Feather”, is that Warm Morning are people who know where to find the melody, how to make it graceful and irresistible. Basically “Feather” is a folk album, but it’s clear that the language used to make it is genuine, refined, polished but always comprehensible; a language mixing elaborate arrangements and persuasive harmonies.
You can hear the jazzy approach of “Kings of convenience”, “Feather” and “Party’s over”, “The Shins”, “Behind the curtain” and the soft psychedelia of “The room is shaking”, “Badly drawn boy”, “The ballad and a tale” or the Irish accents of “Silver Rain”.
The (positive) opinion doesn’t change, for a sound that’s rich in strings and brass, working together with electric guitars, discovering unexpected melodic solutions.
A sound that deserves wider stages…and I hope they’ll get it.
